Restoring ecosystems through practical, science-informed techniques

With over 30 years’ experience, Direct Action Bush Regeneration delivers professional ecological restoration services across the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

Our services specialise in riparian and rainforest restoration, professional weed control and bush regeneration, using targeted, ethical and environmentally responsible methods that support natural ecological processes. Our work is grounded in a deep understanding of local ecosystems and a genuine passion for restoring natural area’s that support the region’s remarkable biodiversity and unique natural history.
We follow industry best practice and prioritise long-term environmental outcomes and provide a range of services to support ecological restoration management for a wide range of different project and site needs.

Restoration strategies are tailored to the unique conditions of each site, project, and property, providing landholders and stakeholders with practical guidance to protect remnant vegetation, enhance habitat quality, and progressively restore degraded landscapes

Our team holds recognised industry qualifications and we operate with a strong commitment to safety and professionalism.

Direct Action Bush Regeneration carries current public liability insurance and all relevant licences, with staff holding required certifications including Conservation and Land Management trade qualifications, First aid, S132 Scientific Licence for working with Threatened Species and in Endangered Ecological Communities and AQF4 Chemical Accreditation. We maintain ongoing professional training to remain up to date with current restoration practices and environmental legislation. All projects are conducted under documented Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and risk management procedures to ensure safe, responsible and environmentally sensitive restoration work.

Accredited Australian Association of Bush Regenerators Member:

Australian Association of Bush Regenerators (AABR) promotes the study and practice of ecological restoration and effective management of natural areas based on sound ecological principles. They also champion the National Standards for the Practice of Ecological Restoration in Australia.

Our Services

Specialised training ensures bush regeneration supports long-term ecological resilience, rather than short-term visual outcomes.

Bush Regeneration

Natural area management restoration and rehabilitation.

Targeted weed control and
Assisted Regeneration

Following evidence-based best practice, guided by decades of research, monitoring and adaptive management. This includes:

  • Minimal-disturbance techniques

  • Targeted hand weeding for better longterm outcomes and best industry practice weed control techniques.

  • Strategic weed control to encourage successional stages faster

  • Selection of appropriate control methods (manual, chemical, mechanical)

  • Risk management around herbicide use in sensitive environments

  • Monitoring and staged works over multiple years

Biodiversity & Revegetation Services

Using local provenance plant species

Northern NSW is a national biodiversity hotspot, containing:

  • Gondwanan rainforest remnants

  • High numbers of endemic and threatened plant species

  • Complex mosaics of vegetation shaped by climate, geology and disturbance

In these landscapes, poorly informed weed removal or revegetation can:

  • Trigger erosion and weed reinvasion

  • Suppress natural regeneration

  • Cause irreversible loss of rare species

Species Identification &
Threatened Species Management

Effective bush regeneration depends on accurate plant identification at all life stages

  • Native seedlings vs invasive weeds

  • Rare, threatened or regionally significant plants

We can provide fauna and Flora surveys,

Vegetation Mapping. Identifying Endangered and threatened communities  (EEC's TEC's), rare or threatened Australian plants (ROTAP) and management,

Fauna habitat assessments. Managing Saving our species (SoS) management sites.

Ecological Consultation,
Environmental management Plans,

We provide:

  • Site-specific ecological advice to help landholders understand the natural values of their property, identify key threats, and make informed management decisions that protect biodiversity and ecosystem function. We connect landowners with conservation bodies, local councils, land trusts and organisations that provide technical support, resources and conservation opportunities — including guidance on available grants and incentive programs.

  • Clear, practical management plans that guide long-term restoration, weed control and habitat enhancement.
